Our dear sister Pearl

Dear saints,

Our sister Pearl Lee went to be with the Lord early this morning. Her sister Priscilla wanted to share a youtube video of some of their east coast relatives singing Pearl's song after hearing her recording.

Priscilla hopes that this may help ease everyone's sorrow.

Lord, You love me so immensely

Dear saints,

Pearl's sister Priscilla wanted to post a song that Pearl sang with her via a videoskype call on April 19, 2013. Since the day of Pearl's diagnosis last year Pearl and Priscilla made skype calls almost every day. Priscilla and her mom wanted all the saints to be able to hear Pearl singing one of her favorite songs. Below is the original email with the melody and lyrics. Also, below is a Youtube link with Pearl's lovely voice.

Lord, You love me so immensely;
I would love You more intensely.
Every day and every moment,
O Lord, capture me.
Let my goal and my life’s theme be,
Lord, to love You more supremely;
With all my heart, Lord Jesus,
Keep me faithful unto Thee.
Draw me, Lord, each day.
Take my veils away.
With a pure heart will I see You;
Lord I just love You.
Nothing else I seek;
No one else for me.
I would fully and absolutely
Give my whole being unto Thee.

{ July 2nd }

Pearl was taken to the ER last night because of symptoms of dehydration- confusion, tiredness, and unresponsiveness. She was unable to stand or even sit upright to use the restroom. She is now admitted into the hospital. After getting a few saline IVs, tranfusion blood IVs, and other meds to help with the pain, she is still dehydrated with extremely high calcium levels. Although Pearl is now more vocally responsive, she is still immobile and bedridden, with pain in her abdomen and back.

The on duty Kaiser oncologist came by and spoke with us and explained (Priscilla her sister is visiting) her main concern for now is to reduce the calcium levels, as it's dangerously high and risks causing lethal heart problems. The high calcium also can cause cramping and pain in her abdomen area, which Pearl suffers from. It will take a couple days for the medicine to help lower the calcium level, and is her highest priority for now. Once it has dropped to safer levels, then oncologist will address other issues such as her cancer. She said from the most recent CT scan at the ER yesterday it seems her brain tumors have grown compared to a prior recent scan. Pearl was supposed to get another radiation treatment today and tomorrow to her torso, but those are cancelled due to her hospitalization.

The Kaiser hospital doctor, who is very familiar with Pearl's situation from previous hospitalizations mentioned in times past, Pearl has been very strong and puts a good fight, but Pearl is in a very severe weakened state, not able to move around anymore even on the bed nor drink or eat.

So, despite treating the calcium, there are very little options left the oncologist or radiation oncologist could do to treat the cancer now, since she's already been through many different regimens and her frail health can no longer support chemo. He feels that this visit could be her last hospitalization as she's becoming very non-responsive.

If the Lord leads,please pray for Pearl, specifically that:
-the calcium levels will reduce to normal levels.
-Pearl will become more responsive, and to be able to get nutrition and recover her strength so she's no longer bedridden.

Amen saints,
Michael

{ June 29 }

We had a long day today. My cousin Maria visited during the week and her parents visited today while they are in socal for the summer training. They took us out to lunch and boba.

I missed my cousin Rebecca's wedding in New York last weekend. I wish I could have been there to enjoy with the family and family reunion. My radiation oncologist moved up treatment schedule to June and so i wasn't able to go.

My daily radiation treatments started Tuesday and ends next Wednesday, but the radiation department is closed on weekends. They are openthis Sunday in lieu of the July 4th holiday though. The first the two treatments were difficult because I wasn't able to keep still from my pain in the abdomen area.

Most Recent Update

After returning back from the hospital about 2 weeks ago, local church sisters have been nursing me back to health with lovely homemade stocks, soups and congee. I still cannot eat too much at a time. Small frequent meals are best. I was able to put down the new chemo pills after my discharge from  the hospital. So that is good. Bad news is it doesn't seem to reduce size of any tumor growth (on back or abdomen). Radiation localized to those areas may be the only way to remove it. They grow rapidly. Feels like a apricot pit in my back where I had the biopsy done. We are moving forward with radio-surgio consult hopefully as soon as next Fri.Jun21.
Between my pills and the next session of pills, its just eat eat eat and kept digestive health up.
Need to gain as much calories as I can to repair body till next session.
That's the update.
